Summary: Compelling reading
Comment: Lucas Davenport is back with the Minneapolis police force as Deputy Chief after a 2 year break. A State Investigator, Meagan Connell, is brought in to help solve the brutal attacks on women. Her demeanour as a tough, no-holds barred female cop, disguises the fact that she is dying of cancer and is determined to solve the case before she dies.A series of successful attacks and murders has given the perpetrator a hunger for more, so he fixates on an attractive and successful business woman and stalks and spies on her repeatedly. This is a hair raising story which will grip the reader to the end as well as giving a frightening look into the twisted and criminal mind of a sadistic rapist and murderer.

Summary: Night Prey - Sandford
Comment: What can I say? Sandford got the series back on track with the gripping Winter Prey and that momentum is obviously still working for him with Night Prey. As usual (and forgive me if I sound like a broken record), the subplot is just as interesting as the main story itself. The language is straightforward, the characters well developed and the action quick. Night Prey is an entertaining and valuable addition to the Prey series.

Summary: Well Developed Characters
Comment: I really like that this book was a solid believable story. One thing that I appreciate very much about Sanford is that he knows that he doesn't have to try to throw in a bunch of twists and turns to try to surprise you. I enjoy Lucas' relationships, the no nonsense, un-friendships that he has with people. I like the way he treats disadvantaged ex-cons verses the real scumbags. There is plenty of the kind of subtle humorous dialog that I like. And women, he knows what he likes, but he also treats them with respect and equality. Just an all around interesting character!
