Summary: SPECTRE Lives Forever?
Comment: As an avid fan of the Bond books, even more so than the films, I've found some real treasures in the non-Fleming Authors. Gardner is has just as good in his own right.
No Body Lives Forever is Gardner middle gournd for me. For the majority its a pleasure to read. There were just a few things that held me back from giving this book a very positive 4. In specific the female leads and their situation with Bond bothered me, and in another wise cool sleek reality based book, there is a really ridiculous scene with a giant vampire bat. That whole bat incident never comes to more of a fruition than a two sentences. If you want to read a Bond book about animals and virus' read Man With the Red Tattoo.
I'm glad that SPECTRE is gone now, it could've ended in better ways, but I'm just glad its over. Unfortuanately Benson couldn't give it a rest, and created the Union, which by all means was ok until it ended so poorly. More poorly so than the way SPECTRE went at the end of this novel.
I've only read 5 other Gardner books, so we'll see how it stacks up when I'm done with the rest. Still a recommended read.

Summary: Nobody Lives Forever carries on the winning Bond formula!!!
Comment: This book is the final and 3rd book in the SPECTRE series. So, who cares it has SPECTRE in it, it's got to be good. It is GREAT! This book is another winner for John Gardner and an unstoppable read at that!
Rating: 3
Summary: oh my hell
Comment: In this book, James Bond (a characterless excess of dullness)is hunted down across the world for sport. His housekeeper and Moneypenny are also kidnapped. He teams up with two women. The story is only saved by brief action sequences, such as a petrol-station scuffle and a climactic slaughter on a tropical island. Best of all is a highway gun battle, which is still too short. Okay.
