Summary: Presenting The Priscilla Myth
Comment: Simplistic in its writing style, Priscilla tells about her life and her relationship with The King. The truth is heavily embellished and "Priscilla-tized", making for a great romance novel but not for an accurate account of how she met Elvis and their relationship. If you do read this book, you ABSOLUTELY MUST read "Child Bride" by Suzanne Finstad along with it, and judge for yourself if Miss Priscilla is being completely honest with herself and with her readers. I could not help but feel a strong underlying resentment and jealousy towards Elvis that seeps through her narration. Priscilla's book has many interesting revelations and anecdotes, but after you read "Child Bride", it's more intriguing to see what Priscilla didn't include in her autobiography than what she did.

Summary: "Truth or Lies".....you decide....
Comment: I started this book and I have to admitt, I read it in one day....It was very intersting however I don't think it was very factual....If you get this book be sure and get "Child Bride" as well, and compare....It is entertaining that's for sure! I love Elvis Presley...My mom was at his concert when she started having contractions with me...He is a heart throb and a very intersting man. This book I am sure has some truth to the legend, Elvis Presley's life and the things that went on during his time here, but lil Mrs. Priscilla is not as innocent as she tries to say in her book...Just look at her past reviews, the "seductive" pictures she has posed oh so many times in...She is a good story teller though. She tells it like she is a victim. You will see reading this book that in her own words she was very into Elvis, and VERY controlling and jealous....I say read this book...but get "Child Bride" as well...

Summary: One-Sided Story
Comment: I originally read Elvis and Me about 10 years ago and it left me with many questions concerning Priscilla's intentions. Was this book really intended to tell the whole raw honest truth of the king and his bride OR to gloss Priscilla's image and leave her with a whiter than white reputation ? I decided for myself that the second reason was probably the truth. I could not help but feel that Priscilla used this book to boost her image and to provoke pity onto herself. This , in my opinion, was a PR motivated move by Priscilla Presley. I could not help but feel that she still has some resentment inside her for the years that she spent in Elvis' shadow and this clearly comes across in the pages. She has stated in interviews that she needed to "tell the truth" for the sake of her daughter, however in reference to the so called "rape" section (at the end of their marriage), what effect would this have on your child..and to tell the whole world ??, I am sorry but I feel that nobodys best interests were at heart except Priscilla's. I felt that most of the "story" in this book was what Priscilla wanted you to believe and I did come away with many many questions and doubts. I have recently read Child Bride and these very questions and doubts that I had were unbelievably covered in this book. I really am sorry to say, that Child Bride, with its much researched evidence and reliable scources, seems to be the accurate version (in my opinion) of events and the truth, surrounding Elvis and Priscilla's relationship.
