Comment: This book is a very good overview of SOME debates and controversies going on in current French Politics, and make sure that you buy this book because you want to learn about these topics: state intervention (strong, weak, disoriented), impact of Globilization in French Politics (EU), interest groups and the role of private companies (notaires); the book doesnt deal with social issues much at all. If this what you are looking for, then this is a very good short overview, but don't be misled by the title.
