Summary: You need this book!
Comment: This is one of the best books I've read during my pregnancy! Iovine's sometimes offbeat humor and no-nonsense approach the the labyrinth of baby stuff have kept my sanity intact, me laughing, and our budget considerably less strapped. The strong emphasis on practical and safety considerations have been a must as we entered our first baby superstore and were ready to run screaming back to the parking lot. Just the chaper on cribs alone saved us hours of heartache and confused wandering around baby stores, not to mention helping us to avoid some potentially hazardous mistakes. The book has accompanied us to every store we've visited. Perhaps most importantly, my knowledge of and confidence in what we need and where to find it has increased exponentially -- which is invaluable, as there are more than enough other things to stress and panic about!

Summary: A Must for First Time Moms & Dads
Comment: My husband bought this book for me. . .I thought I already knew what I needed from family and friends' experiences. I am so glad we (yes he read it too) read the book. It made us both look at what we really needed and helped us save money for the important things. No this is not a "bargin buys" book but it will help first time moms sort out all the stuff they think they need. Easy to read and to the point.

Summary: A bible for first time moms!
Comment: I'm pregnant with my first baby, and recieved this book as a gift from my mother-in-law after reading The Girlfriend's Guide To Pregnancy. It seemed like every website I went to had this HUGE list of things that were baby "essentials" and most of the lists disagreed on quantities of items. Sure, Vicky Iovine makes for amusing reading but there's some invaluable practical information in here for those wanting to put together a concise list of the things they absolutely need, and what they ought to steer clear of. Those reccommending Baby Bargains seem to be missing the point - I didn't need to know *where* to find baby products. I wanted some solid, reliable information on what I would need, backed up by safety information and insights. I'm glad that I have this book and would reccommend it as a gift for other first time moms.
