Comment: Tough to read. HW problems are difficult without good examples to follow. Definitely nor for self-teaching.

Summary: an excellent introduction to modern statistics
Comment: Anyone who needs a solid introduction to modern statistics will benefit greatly from this book. The level of mathematics required is minimal (all one needs in basic college algebra). The explanations are clear, and there are plenty of interesting exercises at the end of each chapter. There are only a few technical proofs, but they are located in chapter appendices, and those who don't need them need not worry about them. An excellent book!
