Summary: WOW
Comment: It was so sad to read about a typical teenage girl who fell for an older guy. I discussed this book with my friends and we all agreed that if an older guy was giving us the time of day, we would fall for him. What girl wouldn't want an older boyfriend? That's what I thought until I read this book. When Nancy met Collin who was four years older them her, she fell in love with him. Though I would find it suspicous that I could never go to his apartment, I thought the story he told her was very convincing. When he raped her and gave her the HIV virus, her life went into a downward spiral. In her last few years of life, you follow her through touching and embarassing events, as well as many sad ones. I never cry when I read books or watch movies, but this one got to me. I recommend this book to any teen of pre-teen girl. I stayed up until 2:30 on a school night to finish the book because I could not put it down! This book really makes you realize how precious every second of life is.

Summary: opinion of an 18 year old
Comment: The book It Happened To Nancy was an excellent book. I really enjoyed it. After reading this book even though the main character in it is only 14-16 throughout it, I think that the book is good for all teenagers to read. I think that they can still relate because the issues like rape and AIDS is something that can effect them too. The only thing is that it is good for pretty-much just teenagers because kids under 12 I think are too young to be reading such an emotional story. Also because of the fact that it is a 14 year old girls diary, people who are much older than a teen would not relate to the book as well just because of the way that it is written. The plot in this book was really good. The story is about a girl who gets raped by a boy she trusts and he gives her AIDS. The plot is good in this book because it stays steady throughout the whole book. They don't just trail off and then you don't end up finding out how certain situations turn out, they tell you everything that happened but they leave out all of the boring things that don't have to do with the plot of the book. The only thing was in the book the characterization wasn't to good in this book. There was good characterization of the main character because she is the one telling the story, but you hear a little about her close friends and things that they do sometimes, but you never really find out very much and so it really leaves you wondering about what they are like. One thing that is important to be warned about is that you will probably cry through parts of this book, I know I sure did. Parts of this book are just so sad with all of the troubles that Nancy has to go through when dealing with AIDS. I loved this book and many other books edited by Beatrice Sparks and I suggest reading them all especially this one.

Summary: Touched my Heart and Soul
Comment: When I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. This book had many emotions in it. I would cry and laugh and cry and laugh. The way that Nancy deals with her illness just amazes me. It's real. This is the most touching book I have read in my life. If you like books that are real and have to do with life, then this is just the book for you. I will remember this book forever. I have learned to appreciate life more by just reading this book. I think you will too.
