The simple story follows the journey of a cheeky frog as it hops from room to room in the home of an extended family. Everyone it encounters is jarred from their activity as the frog makes its presence known, until the entire house ultimately is in turmoil over the irrepressible intruder. The author has great fun with the story's refrain, "fribbity ribbit," altering it to fit each new encounter. As the frog invades the sister's bath, the refrain becomes, "Fribbity-splish! Ribbity-splash!" In one of the most charming scenes, the mother's art studio, the frog lands in the paint: "Fribbity-green! Fribbity-orange! Ribbity-red, white, and blue!" before leaving its imprint on the easel and leaping off to its next destination.This fun with nonsense words is a highlight of the book. The light-hearted text by Suzanne C. Johnson and humorous illustrations by Debbie Tilley complement each other beautifully. The entire story is simple, upbeat and fun. My 3 year old grandson and 8 year old granddaughter loved it.
