Summary: Beyond Beauty
Comment: I was drawn to this book by it's cover. Then I read a few reviews on Amazon and purchased it.
I was interested to read a book written by one so young. I was skeptical at first, comparing the prose to more experienced writers. By chapter three, I was hooked. I found this to be one of the most beautiful stories I have read. I found the writing everthing I enjoy in novels. The scenery is well described, the character development is well done. The mystery surrounding each character is beautifully revealed throughout the book. I could not wait to get home from work to get back to it each day. I love Saphira and can not wait for the second book to visit with my new favorite characters. I would not compare this book to any other. It is one in it's own and I look forward to more from this young author.
I am in my fifties and would recommend this book for young and young at heart. In fact I will buy another for my grand son for his birthday. Who says You can't judge a book by it's cover?

Summary: His age is no excuse...
Comment: To be honest, criticisms of this book have already been voiced a hundred times before, and better than I could say. Derivative, unashamedly cliched and dull...sadly, it's all true. But one thing that keeps popping is the author's age. The fact is that blaming the poor quality of the writing on his youth is a bit of a cop out. If you can write well, you can write well no matter how old you are. Sure, you improve as you go along, but a novice writer who starts at the age of 30 can be just as bad as a novice who starts at 13. Don't give this kid the excuse; talent shows at any age, and he has very little.

Summary: Good Book
Comment: I thought this was a very good book. I was impressed at the author's young age. I enjoy 'The Lord of the Rings' series and Harry Potter, but this book differs from the others. It has some similar elements but the characters are different. There are no main dragons in the other books plus the character is a mature young man. He faces new skills that he didn't know he had and he only wants to work for the good. Now I need to wait a whole year to read the next book.
