Summary: This is the ONLY book you need!
Comment: This book was the ONLY book I needed to pass the CBEST. The prep tests were really great but the BEST part about this book is the many tips it offers. I truly believe it was those tips that helped me pass. Some tips were simple, such as "answer ALL questions, even if it's only a guess" and other tips were more complex, such as ways to fully address the topic of an essay and how to manage your time so that you can pass all 3 sections in one sitting. Oh, and don't forget to take the 2 Practice tests! The questions were VERY similar to those on the actual test. BUY THIS BOOK! IT'S A GREAT INVESTMENT!!! (Then resell it or give it to a friend after you PASS!)

Summary: Great Study Tool!!
Comment: For those who wish to teach the nation's children there are numerous obstacles to overcome, and the CBEST is one of them. Cracking the CBEST truly helped me make it past this one of many steps towards my teaching degree. I live in Nevada and had to travel two and half hours to take the test, so there was a definite need to be prepared. If I failed then it would be back home to study and redo the portion that I failed (there are three portions: mathematics, reading comp, and some essays).
My advice is to get this book well in advance of your test date so that you will be able to apply the many valuable test-taking tips given by the author. Study hard and you too will be able to overcome this hurdle and move ahead to your future as an educator.

Summary: CBEST Preparation to have and to AVOID
Comment: I agree with the majority of the reviewers here. When preparing for the CBEST I used this book, and studied the material from cover to cover. Admitedly, the tests seem to be a little harder than the actual exam, however, this is to your benefit because you will have a better feel for the exam.
What I liked about this study guide, is that they throw at you a lot of potential questions on the sample tests, that are pretty similar, or near the difficulty level that is expected of you to know. Whatever question you missed out on, always be sure to find your mistakes. The questions you were right on, reinforce what you did well, and do the same thing on the test.
