Summary: A great book
Comment: I thought that Star by Star was one of the best new jedi order books I've read. It always ticks me off when stories are unreal with all the main characters surving against huge odds. It would have been unbelivable if all the Solos and Skywalkers and everyone else we've come to love survived this threat.
Denning is an excellent author, making the story convincing. I cryed my eyes out when Anakin died and even more so at his parent's response. Read this book.

Summary: Great book...Bittersweet ending!
Comment: Troy Denning needs to write more Star Wars novels! I have been a fan of Troy Denning for a long time and have read all of his great works set in the Forgotten Realms fantasy setting. Star By Star is an exceptional story and a great read. I did not want to put this book down. I really enjoy all of the characters and how Denning establishes the plot and builds the action throughout the story, eventually leading up to a truly memorable climax. The ending is, however, bittersweet. But readers must remember that in war even heroes fall, and their deaths turn them into legends!

Summary: Troy Denning is demented!
Comment: Who would like it if a character that has been our protégé for the last 8 books does his last hurrah and get killed, I mean what is the fun in that. I hate it. And unfortunately it happens in the new Star Wars book, Star By Star, written by the demented Troy Denning. The death is ten times worse then Chewwie's, because he is courageous, loyal, a great character and ......Anakin Solo. This is Star Wars for crying out loud! Since when has the main (young) hero died. The only death I find acceptable (or for me rejoicable) is the crafty chief of state Borsk Fey'Leya demise in the fall of Coruscant to Tsavong Lah's mighty Vong forces (yes the Vong do take Coruscant). Also the Jedi Knights (including these new cool Barabel Jedi) lead a mission against the newly created Jedi-hunting Voxin (Those who know of & like the Centaur Lusa will be not happy to hear she dies because of them) at Myrkr. There everything goes wrong. Anakin dies there, which pushes Jaina into the darkside, Jacen is captured by the mysterious advisor to Tsavong Lah, Vergere, Jedi such as Rayner Thul get killed or captured, at least people such as Zekk, Tenel Ka, Lowbacca (though he loses his droid Em-Teede), Ganner and Tahari make it out alive. After I finished it I wondered : How can the New Jedi Order survive after its writer killed its best hope? and : How could Troy Denning do this? He is a great writer, but he just shattered a great series. I recommend this to any one who is an avid reader of The New Jedi Order series, though I have no love for it.
