Summary: Mosby's anatomy
Comment: Because the drawings are simple, this book may be useful for young students aided by a teacher, but I do not recommend it for college or professional students. The very first page (3), a drawing of the histology of the skin, has a major mistake. The epidermis is upside down relative to the hair follicles. Skin includes the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis or subcutis, but the drawing labeled "layers of the skin" shows only epidermis (upside down). According to the answer key, the stratum basale on page 3 is the epidermis, the stratum spinosum on page 3 is the dermis, and the veins on page 5 are nerves. Throughout the book, the term "cross section" is used incorrectly. For example, the drawing on page 111 is a median sagittal section not a cross section or a ventral view as it is labeled.
