Title: Mosby's Fundamentals of Therapeutic Massage by Sandy Fritz ISBN: 0-323-00677-9 Publisher: Mosby Pub. Date: August, 1999 Format: Paperback Volumes: 1 List Price(USD): $56.95 |
Average Customer Rating: 4.75 (4 reviews)
Rating: 4
Summary: An academic text that is widely used
Comment: Any place you go to study massage will probably get around to recommending Mosby. While the material seems dated, it is exhaustive and really detailed. Anatomical information can be difficult but it gets easier if you plug away. For the committed professional, not the layman.
Rating: 5
Summary: Excellent reference for massage students
Comment: This book is an excellent reference for massage students. It is well-organized and easy to comprehend. It is good as a knowledge source for information look up on pathology and clinical aspects of massage. However for the National certification test I used the following:
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers Vol 1, Vol 2, and Vol 3
Vol 1: isbn: 0971999643
Vol 2: isbn: 0971999651
Vol 3: isbn: 097199966X
Believe me these four books are well worth it for the national certification exam. The last three books were so specific and thorough which prepared me highly for the national exam.
Rating: 5
Summary: Very good book, very helpful
Comment: I recently used this book to help study for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I found it quite good as a reference for massage techniques, client history, benefits of massage and sanitation topics that were asked on the NCETMB. I also highly recommend the following three volumes which are available on amazon.com:
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers
Vol 1 (Topics: Human Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology)
(ISBN: 0971999643)
Vol 2 (Topics: Clinical Pathology and Recognition of Various Conditions)
(ISBN: 0971999651)
Vol 3 (Topics: Massage Therapy and Bodywork: Theory, Assessment and Application. Professional Standards, Ethics and Business Practices)
(ISBN: 097199966X)
These four books helped me pass the NCETMB. I was first recommended these books from a few friends who used these books and found it extremely helpful for the NCETMB.
