Summary: Bravo for Burroughs
Comment: I could not put this book down! It was compelling, interesting, scary, and wonderful- the range of emotions I felt was amazing. I ran out and bought Dry which I found to be even better! Mr. Burroughs'story is unbelievable. I am so happy for his success.

Summary: Disturbing - Nothing like David Sedaris
Comment: After learning that people who enjoyed David Sedaris' Me Talk Pretty One Day reccommended this book, I immediately bought it. However, this book is not humourous nor clever, it is quite disturbing. This book has few, if any, funny parts. I will admit this book is unique in that I cannot compare it to anything else I have read. I would not suggest anyone read this book unless they are looking for a sick, twisted, disturbing tale. IT is hard to imagine anyone thought this was funny, it is not even a dark comedy - it is just dark. I would not recommend this book.

Summary: Beautiful Journey if You Open Your Mind
Comment: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some will read "Running With Scissors" and focus on the horrors of the dysfunction and abuse. Others may read it and be offended by the open depictions of homosexuality. I, however, rejoice in the author's ability to find humor in sadness. I rejoice in the author's ability to present an honest account of a period that might have stifled others. I found the book beautiful in the same way as "Nightmares Echo", "Lucky", "A Child Called It" and "My Fractured Life". In fact, it reminded me a great deal of "My Fractured Life", except without the Hollywood references. The ability to find beauty in sadness and humor in despair is peculiarly stirring. It is a wonderful journey
