Summary: Funny and clever
Comment: Hapless bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has an easy job this time--bring in toy maker Sandy Klaus before Christmas. When a strange 'man' literally pops into her apartment with the message that he's here to help, she is a little mystified, but not enough to let it get in the way of doing her job. For Stephanie Plum, though, doing her job is never easy. In this case, strangeness includes a band of little people with fake elf ears, the question of whether the toy maker might just be the real Santa Claus, getting her Christmas shopping done in the four shopping days remaining, her sister's sudden stomach distress, and Stephanie's ongoing relationship issues with Joe Morelli.
The supernatural element (possible superhero Diesel, evil Ring, plausible Santa Claus and elves) adds to Stephanie's normally colorful life (ex-'...' Lula plays a role and another car--well, you know what happens to Stephanie's cars).
Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series has achieved huge success because of the books' manic, over the top, humor and the sympathetic character of Stephanie. VISIONS OF SUGAR PLUMS gives us another dose of Stephanie, her disfunctional family, and her bumbling attempts to bring hapless criminals to justice. VISIONS is barely long enough to qualify as a novel (at 149 pages in the hardback edition), giving the reader a taste of Stephanie rather than the full meal normally delivered. Still, it's an enjoyable taste.

Summary: -A quirky holiday with Stephanie & the Spirit of Christmas-
Comment: One morning in December, Stephanie Plum walks into her kitchen and a great looking guy is standing there. She thinks she might be hallucinating since she had mushrooms on her pizza the night before. However, he tells her his name is Diesel and he's the spirit of Christmas. For some very strange reason she's not afraid of him, but knows that she should be terrified to be alone with a stranger. Locks and doors seem to be no problem for Diesel, but he does condescend to wait outside her apartment while she showers.
As usual Stephanie is broke, no money for a Christmas tree, presents or decorations, but she still has her job as a bounty hunter. Well, well, who else would Stephanie Plum be looking for at Christmas time in Trenton, but Sandy Claws? He turns out to be in his 80's and a bail jumper. He also happens to be a toy maker. Since she can't get rid of Diesel, she decides to let him help her in her pursuit of Sandy.
This story is absolutely hilarious; I laughed through the entire book. Don't wait until the holidays to read this one.

Summary: Not as good as the other Stephanie Plum novels
Comment: I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Stephanie Plum novels.
I LOVE Ranger and Morelli (don't we all wish we had our own?).
I didn't like this one as much. I like the real characters. The main characters in this one were so unreal and it took away from the book.
I did enjoy it, though.
I can't wait for 10 to come out.
