Summary: Unleashed my Baggage
Comment: A wonderful book indeed! Through the comprehensive history of black hair, I was finally able to let go of the stress that (for my entire life) I associated with my own hair. It definitely "untangled my roots"!! I was most captivated and inspired by the fact that black hair has fascinated the world for centuries! Hair Story is undoubtedly a book for the black community, it has the ability to give us insight so that we may be able to regain the social, political and economic strength of our ancestors.

Summary: Hair Story
Comment: I found this book to very informative. I learned details about history and our hair as well as the economics connected to it. Actually, i was distrubed by somethings I was totally unaware of (i.e. The FTC's involvement w/ an attempt at limiting sales of relaxers ! made by a black company)
As someone who has locks it was a book that caused many emotions from saddest, embarassment, shame to acceptance, validation and understanding.

Summary: Great history
Comment: I loved this book because it gave great insight as to why black women relax their hair. The history of our hair from Africa to slavery to emancipation to the civil rights movement to today. It is amazing how important our hair is to us. This book will change the way you see your own hair forever.
