Comment: This commentary is the third one written on Luke by the same author. It focuses on contemperary application of Luke's message. One might need another (more detailed) commentary to determine the original meaning of the text. Those with necessary training in the Biblical Greek should consult his two-volume commentary published by Baker.

Summary: A Monumental Work!
Comment: The second volume of Bock's massive work on Luke is breathtaking! The format is brilliant. These two volumes will keep you busy in Luke's gospel for a long time. Look for Bock's commentary on Acts in this same series, due sometime in 2006.

Summary: A Monumental Work!
Comment: Nothing even comes close to this monumental work on Luke by Darrell Bock. The format of this series is just excellent and I wish we could see some new volumes! At any rate, Bock has simply provided us with the most thorough exegesis of Luke that has ever appeared. Technical, yet lucid. Tremendous background information! Much synoptic interaction. A veritable feast of Greek helps. Critical interaction, including direct interaction with the "Jesus Seminar" at many points. These volumes are worth the price and will provide you with a wealth of information on Luke's gospel. Thanks to Darrell Bock for this excellent work!
