Summary: Great Theology Book
Comment: This book is a great theology book. The layout is excellent. It is easy reading. The theology is thourough. It gives many sides although you can tell which view the author takes. It's very good. I would recommend this book for every Christian to read.
Rating: 3
Summary: Well written, but unfortunately somewhat unbalanced
Comment: This book will provide a good introduction to many theological issues. It has one major flaw, and that is the allusion that the ideas being presented the only viable approach to understanding theology as it relates to scripture. This is a well written, but poorly balanced volume. I don't recommend it if you are trying to get a general overview of the possible biblical approaches to theological issues. If you are looking for a well written volume on conservative theological views, then this one may be what you're looking for. Just be weary of an overall unwillingness to admit that some doctrines may not be as cut and dry as he would like to make them appear to be. When scholars do this it is usually so their views will fit well with each other without inconsistencies or contradictions.

Summary: Great intro for the beginning theologian!
Comment: I found this book easy to read and theologically solid. The arguments presented were great introductions to the deeper issues of systematic theology. Grudem, humbly weighs important issues with an emphasis on Biblical truth opposed to the temptation of sentimentalism. Honestly, if you are not intimidated by the size of Grudem's "Systematic Theology", I would recommend that you go ahead and buy that one instead. On the other hand, if you want to "get through" a great systematic study this might be more what you're looking for. To put it another way, Bible Doctrine would be a great text book for grades eleven through college, but Systematic Theology could keep you going up through intro classes in seminary.
