Comment: Wallace's narrative of Smith's life and career lacks finesse. While there are many facts included in the biography, many of the hypotheticals are left unfootnoted, decreasing the credibility of the author and her sources. While there is much information included in the book, it lacks connections that make other biographies a joy to read. I would suggest "No Place For a Woman: A Life of Senator Margaret Chase Smith" by Janann Sherman instead.
