Summary: Liberal Propaganda
Comment: If I could have given this book zero stars, I would have. This book is nothing more than liberal propaganda, promoting the Freudian ways that have invaded our classrooms, and ensuring that our nation's teachers-to-be will be as clueless and incompetant as to how to actually teach children. Of all the varying standpoints on issues in education, the book only briefly talks about conservative opinions, and goes at length about liberal ones; it doesn't even try to be middle of the road. If you want to ensure that our children will continue to fail in school, go ahead and buy this book, if not, save your money.

Rating: 4
Summary: Good overview on the system
Comment: This book is good for anyone who wants to be in a teaching professional in secondary level. It provides almost every aspect of the professional. I found it very helpful to understand what lies ahead if I want to teach. It might not be suitable to use as mentor. It didn't discuss much about what is going on in school but more on what to expect. A good resource for any beginning teacher.

Rating: 3
Summary: Overpriced and not honest enough
Comment: No book can fully relate what it is like to become a teacher. Do you want to know what teaching's really like? Sit in for a week at a school, preferably the kind of school that beginning teachers usually get their start in (read: poor ones). Observe the classes. Talk to the teachers. Talk to the administrators. Talk to the kids. Tell them to be honest with you. One week of that will tell you more about teaching and education today than this book.
