Summary: Fixed 3 problems the first afternoon. Well worth the money.
Comment: As a newby to Windows, I blindly used Windows 95 as I
learned about the Windows platform. As the weeks passed,
so did the quality of the performance of my programs. My
CD-ROM was no longer available, my desk top lost things
around the edges, and then when I tried to load a free
software package from an Internet Service Provider, and
had to abort the load, I lost 8 drivers and the platform
no longer wanted to load. It was clearly time to stop
putting up with this deterioration and start fixing things.
A couple of guru's were of no help with the ROM so I took
the advice of one and bought this book. I am now well on
my way to total recovery and am deeply grateful to Kay
Nelson for taking the time to write all of this down for
those of us that flounder when encountering the Great God,
Windows 95, Ruler of My PC, whether I like it or not.
I now feel that I am starting to regain my rightful
control of my computer, for the first time in about 8 weeks.
I am not used to an operating system that tells me I am
not allowed to load things into my computer, even if it
is probably good advice. And I will have trouble adjusting
to the new world of missing and modified DOS commands.
And with Kay's help, I may soon be able to guess where
my old and friendly app's programs might have put the file
we just created.
Yes, Windows 95 has truly been driving me crazy for about
8 weeks, but I am now feeling better, since help has arrived.

Summary: A great resource for folks moving to Windows 95
Comment:
As a new user of Windows 95 (but veteran Windows 3.x user),
I was looking for a book that would help me appreciate how it
works--but I didn't need hand-holding. None impressed me, so
I started using the product anyway. I was immediately struck
by several unintuitive and challenging quirks. I also started
to see work-arounds that left me wondering why the designers
hadn't thought of the same things I had (like default "send to" entries
for the Start menu and Desktop). Anyway, I then happened upon this
book and felt an immediate rush of comfort and solace, reading
of another's similar discoveries and shared solutions. Being
confident that I'd barely scratched the surface of such
challenges, and
wanting to be able to solve them quickly when I did encounter them,
I bought this book. I'm happy I did. If you're a Windows 3.x, Mac, or OS/2 user
converting to Windows 95, I think you'll find it very helpful too!
