Summary: Not an introductory textbook
Comment: The book is intented to serve as an introductory textbook for undergraduate college students. I'll bet that half the class will drop the course before they finish Chapter Four, where the description of E-R diagrams is, at best, utterly confusing. In fact, the author consistently introduces terms and concepts that really have no place in an introductory course on database management. Not because they are not nice to learn, but because the neophyte will be unnecessarily intimidated. Great introductory textbooks make a subject seem less complicated than it actually is, not the other way around. If you already know something about the subject, buy the book because there is quite a bit of good stuff in it. If you are a novice, run the other way.

Summary: easy to understand book with lots of great info
Comment: I found this book incredibly helpful to understand databases. I think this book offeres a great way to learn a lot of great information about databases and web programming in an easy to understand fashion. After reading this book I can now build amazing web pages that are dynamically generated and integrated with databases.
