Summary: Cheap, highly-focused and useful review for calculus
Comment: I'd taken Calculus ten years ago and needed to retake it. After working through 'Forgotten Algebra', this book was a godsend. It's B.S.-free and highly focused on what you need BEFORE Calculus. If you buy the first edition used (as I did), then it's cheap.

Summary: Best book for review
Comment: These guys are geniuses for presetnting complex information in a digestable, direct, witty, and accurate manner. Great for remembering forgotten trig and algebra. Awesome calc primer.

I salute a rare erudite math professor who can actually teach. Where can we find more? My school is full of passive aggressive math professors who know their stuff but cant teach.

thank you for the help

Summary: If Jesus and Buddha collaborated on a calculus text...
Comment: this is what you'd get. This book is great. It's based on the theory that most of the problems that students have with calculus is not the calculus itself but the aspects of algebra and trig involved in performing calculus problems. One of the greatest features of this text is that it is not written in "mathnese." The author's, two math professors from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, explain concepts in plain English. All the rules and proceedures one needs to know are clearly explained and then followed by a series of exercises that are actually relevant. (A first!) I cannot express how impressed am I with this book any more. If you don't like the book, send it to me; I'll eat it.
