Summary: Very good book!
Comment: This book is very good. It deals with social and political aspects of the Naval Officer Corps of Imperial (1871-1919) Germany. The reason why I find this book so good is that it covers a topicto which usually no attention is given. The German Navy officers were from a different social background that thos of the Army, which explains the way they fought and how much they cared about their beloved institutions. The kind of training and life style induced to these men explains the way most of them fought World War II a couple of decades after the Imperial Navy was disbanded. Excellent research by an expert on the subject, which only makes one anxious to learn more. The only reason why I don't rate this book with five stars is because I would have wanted to know more about some key figures of Kaiser Wilhelm's navy.
