Summary: "Concise" is Good!
Comment: This book's author refers to it as "concise." This is appropriate language. It is a wonderful introduction to American History, and is worth reading even if you're not a history newbie. The book address a good deal of the issues appropriately and in a concise, easy-to-read manner. Unlike many books on American History, this one doesn't pretend like slavery is the only thing that happened before 1865. The Reconstruction material is wonderful, as is the material covering the Civil War. The best information, in my opinion, is contained in the book's coverage of the birth of our nation. I highly recommend this if you're a beginning History student, or if you need a good book for quick reference. This one is short and to the point - and should serve your needs well.
