Summary: Warning to Parents!!!!
Comment: This book should be printed with a large warning to parents on the front cover. This book deals with the death of 2 dogs (how they both die at the same time seems strange). This was very upsetting to my 7 year old son when it was read to him. It is hard enough for a child to deal with the death of a pet, but to hear it in a book usually read at bedtime is not something a child should go through. The author should be ashamed for writing a children's book like this. Libraries should not place this book in the children's section! For you children's sake, do not buy this book.

Summary: Perhaps the worst children's book I've read
Comment: My three-year old brought this home from the library. Unfamiliar with the book or the author, I started reading it to my child at bedtime recently. What a mess! Many unpleasant aspects - dead dogs, implied suicide, roadkill, ghost pets, public school busing - and a writing style that aspires to art but merely annoys. Don't buy this and encourage the author to produce more like it. My advice is to spend your money on MISTER LUNCH TAKES A PLANE RIDE or Lobel's FABLES or, really, just about any other children's book.
