Summary: Beasties
Comment: This a terrific book! I really loved it! I read it in language arts class. I think that teachers every where should read this book to their class and ask them what they thought of it.I've read this book two times because I just got it but I plan on reading it again and again. This book is about a boy {Doug} and a girl {Colette} moving to this house. The house looks like it has not been lived in for a long time. On the way they see some very weird stuff. I won't tell you any more about the book but later I will tell you about what the beasties look like. I truly think you will enjoy this book a lot if you read it. This book started off slow but toward the middle of the book it got ihnteresting. The beasties looks like this "It's shorter than a human, it has bristly white hair, pale skin, large eyes, two teeth curved up and two curved down, long noise, no chain, high cheeck bones." I also did not like the book in some parts. It gets confusing sometimes and you don't know what's going on but then you read it more and more then you will understand it. It took me a couple of times to get it but once you get it it is fun to read. If you're interested in science fiction then you will love this book. I know my teacher likes it and so do I. This is a great book and I suggest you read it. Enjoy!

Summary: Amanda's Book Review for the Beasties
Comment: The Beasties was a book that had many good and bad things about it. For example some good things were that William Sleator used good detail, description, setting, and imagination. He used great detail when he described the was the Beasties looked. How they had distinct features and at times almost transparent skin. He also described the tunnels that the Beasties lived in with vines coming in and out of the walls and roots twisting around on the ground and ceiling. I think he chose a great setting because to me underground seems like a dark, mysterious, and sometimes even scary place. To me this fits the Beasties perfectly because I think they seem like dark, mysterious, secretive, and at times scary creatures. Some bad things about this book are how at times it was very slow and didn't have much action. For example at the beginning it seemed to take a while for things to get started. This again happened during the middle of the book, except this time it took a while for some good action to start. I also disliked the ending a lot. Beasties was already a very unrealistic book and the event that happens at the end makes the book even more unrealistic. Also the ending occurred to soon. As soon as the big event at the end of the book the bok was ended. I wish the author would have explained what happened to the characters after the big event and told what happened to them in the future. I also would have liked this book a whole lot better if it was a lot more scary and not so unrealistic. I recommend this book to people who like stories that are quickly ended and people who like science fiction books. I also recommend this book to people who don't like scary books. At the beginning of the book the Beasties seem scary as well as the entire book, but once you keep reading the book it becomes less and less scary. I love scary books so this didn't help to interest me anymore in reading and finishing the book. People who don't mind about books being scary or not would not be affected by this. Therefore go on and read the book!

Summary: The Beasties
Comment: I loved this book! It was very very detailed and easy to follow. The ending was great, it wasn't a cliff hanger ending. The whole story-line was grand, with a combo of horror, suspense, and mystery who wouldn't enjoy it. This story will keep you in your seat, it is a definite thriller.
The best part was when the author first introduced the creatures known as Beasties. These are the horific monsters the main charectar is warned about in the begining of the book. They are small cretins with long razor sharp teeth. They can talk and are very much humane although humans are there sworn enemy. They don't kill people, but they do have a doctor Beasty who amputates human body parts and puts them on the beasties.
The most vivid story elements were the charectars and the conflict. The charectars were very detailed and personified.you can really relate to the charectars minds and there behaviors. The conflict was great it shows a horific monster and shows it is only trying to survive. It's another human versus beast senarios. It was great and very detailed throughout.I loved every aspect of this book the made it very detailed and well written so you kept up very easily. This was a great book you should read it to.
