Summary: What a great novel
Comment: Being a 14 year old young women in 8th grade, this was not my first novel. I would not only reccomend this book but The Weight Of Water, The Last Time They Met, and The Red Badge Of Courtage. Out of all this was probably one of the best novels I have ever read. It has the realistic side of life.
I loved how Beverly Donofrio came right out and spoke how she felt and how her life was with the heroin, the drinking, the clubing and the marijuana. Having a baby at age 17 was probably one of the hardest things a teenager in the 60's could go through. She was basically a hood even at the age of 14. Her marriage failing with a husband that couldn't get a job, lied to her, was a jerk, drunk, and did lots of heroin, stuck with her son Jason.
With Raymond, the other divorced parent, went odd to fight in the vietnam. Beverly was left with Jason to raise. Jason probably never going to see his father again.
Near the end of Beverly pulls through the ups and downs of life, with more than enough men to make her happy. She had the good times with her friends and playing in the pool with her son.
Riding In Cars With Boys maintains interest all the way through with no lulls. I could stay with the book and not get bored with the characters. There was always something going on to interest me.

Summary: Wnderful book
Comment: I really enjoyed this Book. I have been a sheltered child my whole life. To read this book it brought my attention to some things that i really never thought of life long lessons i guess you could say.Stuff that my parents always told me and i obeyed because i just thought it was the right thing to do and not because i thought that they knew it was the right thing. underaged drinking and smoking i never knew could lead to the troubles that it can. Now after reading this book i realize the things my parents told me were wrong and i didn't believe them that they were as wrong to do as they thought, really are that wrong. Things like the drinking and the smoking just lead to trouble and this book really shows you the consequences of doing these things. Pregnancy, jail time, no trust with parents, and it gives you as a teen a bad name. If i were to recomend one book that teenage girls should read it would deffinately be "Riding in cars with Boys" To teach lessons make you laugh and feel the hurt and happieness that Beverley donofrio talks about.

Summary: Personal Story
Comment: This is a great book for any young mothers. It helps you to realize people make mistakes, exspecially parents. Through all of her selfish behavior Bev managed to survive and raise a world smart child. Jason was aware of the world around him rather then have it hidden from him. Beverly, you did a great job! This book was such a joy to read.
