Summary: No, It's Not Fluffy-Bunny-Craft
Comment: Most of the people who complain about this book and it's "updated" version seem to be bothered by the "ethics" or "morality" or lack of info on the religious aspects of Wicca. Well, simply put, this book is about the "Magic Power" of "Witchcraft" (gee, you would think more people would have caught on to that fact) and how to use Witchcraft to improve your life and obtain the things you want in this world. Of course there will always be those who believe that taking care of oneself (being "selfish") or using magic to get ahead in the world (as opposed to using it to try to end world hunger and war) is immoral, unethical, and just plain bad (I wonder if these folks are really closet Christians). In reality, this book just tells it like it is, plain, simple and to the point. It tells the student exactly what to do and how to do it to improve their lives and achieve success and happiness. If your interest is in developing and using such powers as astral travel, telepathy, recharging your cosmic energy, being able to consult the spirits of the deceased, and a great deal more besides, then this book is a must have. I've studied everything from the Magick of Aleister Crowley, to the Golden Dawn and Franz Bardon's Hermetics, all of these are excellent in their own way but the Frosts' Witchcraft has proven to be the most practical and useful of anything I've yet seen. This is a very good book and deserves serious consideration by all practitioners of the occult.

Summary: The Real Craft Without New Age Babble
Comment: This book is the one that began my lifelong study of magick and my native Northern European religious and cultual heritage. I first read it 25 years ago and still re-read it from time to time to return myself to the essential attitude of a Witch. This book is worded in a bit of a corny fashion, but that was the style of the time for almost all books on occult subjects. It is simple and straight forward real Witchcraft, untainted with the New Age garbage that permeates most books on the Craft these days. Witchcraft was, and is, to the very few who actually practace it in its historic context, a CRAFT, not a religion. This book is the perfect first book on the Craft in a halfway proper context. The Frosts are true Masters of the traditions, as well as several non-European magickal practaces; they know their stuff. If you are tired of Light Weenie wannabe Witches who practace Hinduism with a pointed hat, this is a good start. I would reccomend this book above 99% of all the other beginner's books out there, and above most of the books on the Craft period.

Summary: Dianetics for Wiccans
Comment: Although the feel-good energy of the writing style often brings to mind a new-age self-help book from the mid eighties, this is a wonderful book for beginners. It's not bad for more advanced practitioners to have on hand, either - both because of the real-world advice that is given (some of which no longer applies, some of which is more timely than ever). The Frost couple use Witch Power as a catch-all description for the art of winning friends and influencing people - much of the advice is applied psychology, rather than spells and incantations - and I have never encountered better advice for new students of the craft.
There is, of course, plenty of information in the spells and incantations category - most of it simple and easy to understand. I heartily recommend this book as a basic occult primer.
