Summary: Don't buy this book
Comment: This is the worst book I have ever read. The topics is totally out of order, and the context is extremely confusing. If you really want to learn something about construction safety and health, I suggest you buy any book other than this one.
Rating: 4
Summary: Relevant, comprehensive and timely
Comment: This book addresses an area in construction which does not usually feature prominently in the thinking of construction professionals and practitioners, namely construction safety and health. The topics which are covered within the text have been written by some of the world's leading researchers in this field.
These topics include authoritative and informative discussions on relevant issues such as the cost of addressing safety on construction sites, how safety and scheduling are related, the relationship between quality and safety, the role of designers in contributing to the safety effort, the importance of a team approach that includes all participants in the construction process, and the health consequences of working in construction.
The book is ideal reading for academics, researchers, and college students in construction-related programs and projects. It is also good material for construction professionals and practitioners since they ultimately impact safety on construction sites.
The techniques and approaches presented are practical and can be implemented with ease by any construction participant.
The text is very readable. The graphics and tables contribute to this readability. While the topics are not presented in any specific order or sequence, each chapter is complete. This feature of the book does not detract from its appeal. Rather it enabled me to read the chapters in a random fashion relative to my area of interest.
The book is a welcome and worthwhile contribution to the construction safety and health effort.
