Summary: Not advised for an enthusiast of mathematics of finance.
Comment: I have spent hours studying from this textbook and find it on a whole aggravating. Normally, I enjoy mathematics text as they tend to flow from one topic to the next with great examples. Now, I do not deny, this textbook definitely has examples (or rather exercises), however I feel that the author could have designed a much better textbook. In particular, the author could have added some interesting articles to help relate the material to modern day occurances. Also I feel that some of the explanations are quite poor, especially in chapters 3, 4, and 5 - some answers seem to be given without much proof as to where they came from. On the other hand, there are some examples that were well done and clearly understandable from start to finish. On a whole though I could not recommend this textbook to someone interested in learning the mathematics of finance for you tend to lose your enthusiasm for the mathematics of finance the deeper you go into the text due to the quality of the text.
