Comment: The Builder's Portable Handbook has tables and figures that are useful for all kinds of building projects, not just for professional builders. It has concrete and masonry information as well, but the reason I bought the book was for information on strength of lumber, joist sizing and spacing, and other properties of wood. I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of information on framing styles, roof design, and geographical information. If you're doing any kind of building, this book would be a very valuable resource. I'm glad I bought mine.
