Summary: A good comprehensive book.
Comment: Overall a reasonable text to learn Distributed OS concepts. Its coverage of distributed algorithms is good. I would recommend reading the original papers for a better understanding though. The chapters are well organized and it is a good intruductory book for a grad student. Its coverage of distributed database concepts is rather superficial though.

Summary: Simple to understand; has good examples
Comment: This book is very useful to get a good idea about the advanced issues in OS. But the only problem is that no particular topic could receive in-depth coverage. Perhaps it is a common problem for all books. Too much has been learnt about OS to be put in 500 pages. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get the gist without plodding through miles and miles of jargon and advanced mathematics.
