Summary: Shade's Children
Comment: Imagine that your spices are no longer dominant and everyone in the world over the age of 14 has suddenly disappeared. Now imagine that the wold as you know it is a race for life, survival of the fittest. If your caught you go straight back to the "dorms," where on your 14 birthday you are taken away for your brain to be harvested. Or if your lucky you'll die before they get you. But if you do manage to escape there is hope out there, in the form of a mysterious man named shade.
This book is a great, astoundingly well written book that will keep you guessing on what will happen next until the end. It has a perfect mix of action, humor, and drama with every turn of the page. When I read this book I could never put it down. This book catches your interest and clutches to it like a shipwrecked survivor to a piece of driftwood!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it to sci-fi fans everywhere! I say this because this book is simply put a great piece of work. You will connect with the characters as you follow them through this fantastic adventure.

Summary: Review of Shade's Children
Comment: Shade's Children has to be the best young adult book of all time. Mr. Nix is an excellent writer and is a master of letting the action roll. This book has all the characteristics of a great novel. It has love, action, suspense, treachery, and more. You need all of these to make a really good book and Nix has done just that.
The book takes place in a city near the ocean, in the not so distant future. Fifteen years previous, to the book, all the people over the age of fourteen simply disappeared. Now, the Overlords and their human monster machines rule the world. Kids are "grown" in the Dorms and on there fourteenth birthday are taken away to the Meat Factory to become Wingers, Myrmidons, Screamers, Trackers, or Ferrets.
Over the years, some kids have developed special talents called Change Talents. Using these talents, they were able to escape the Dorms. If they are lucky, they will find Shade, a holographic image that has the knowledge of an adult. He is like a father for them. Luckily, a few kids who have extraordinary Change Talents have found Shade. Golden-Eye can see the "soon-to-be-now", Ella has the ability to conjure small items, Ninde has telekinetic capabilities, and the hulking Drum can manipulate objects from afar. These four have the determination to destroy the all-powerful Overlords, but will they be able? Will they, too, be "manufactured" like the rest? To find out read Garth Nix's Shade's Children.
I think this book was great! The book has a few minor flaws but they can be over looked by your own imagination. While I was reading I wondered why are the Overlords here? Or why do they need 14-year-old kids? It was not answered in the book but I wish it were. The personalities of the characters were very vivid and detailed. The main theme to this book, like most, is Good vs. Evil, but will Evil finally prevail?
In conclusion, if you like science fiction stories and you are a young adult (or adult) this is the book for you. I am sure you will enjoy the adventures of the Children and the surprise ending. Also, if you liked this book than you may like his other works like Sabriel. It is more of a fantasy but good none the less.

Summary: A book to WOW you
Comment: This is the fourth Garth Nix's books i have read, and quite frankly i think it is the best. Only Garth Nix could write anything with this much thought and this many twists. Although i cried at the ending, (hey im a chick what do you expect?) i still highly reccomend reading this, not just for science fiction fans, but for any avid reader. Warning: Make sure when you start this book you have no disturbances and enough time to finish the whole book in one sitting.
