Summary: A healthy life, a healthy heart
Comment: What a terrific book. The information is so easy to read and
understand.

Summary: Atkins was half right.
Comment: Carbs aren't the problem, refined carbs are. Dr. Mirkin's book explains exactly how to diet and exercise correctly - including tasty recipes and cooking instructions. Dr. Mirkin takes the proven "DASH" diet, developed by the NIH, and takes it one step further to the "DASH PLUS" diet. What will "DASH PLUS" do for you? Besides lower your blood pressure (the DASH component) the "PLUS" component will lower your risk of heart disease an cancer, and probably cause you to lose weight. Why believe Dr. Mirkin? He and his wife Diana have proven this with 100's of patients. Also, Dr. Mirkin relies on the lastest published research - to learn more about him see his website www.drmirkin.com. I'm a huge fan of the Mirkins - in my book he is the "Mc Coy" - the one you should trust. Dr. Mirkin's most popular book, "The Sportsmedicine Book," published in 1978, has stood the test of time - very impressive. The Mirkins not only talk the talk, they walk the walk. Buy their book - it may just save your life.

Summary: Needed to take control
Comment: My cravings and bingeing of sweet carbs was so bad that I needed to take control. My husband who has been a follower of Dr.Mirkin for years decided it would make a great holiday present. Because of all the diet advice out there, often contradictory, I decided to read the book backwards. I was impressed with the resources and references. Most impressive is the way the book is laid out and how clear each section is to follow.I especially like the fact that medical jargon is made simple. Because I was just diagnosed with insulin resistance I think Dr. Mirkin has given me the key to taking back my life. I am anxiously waiting for him to schedule book signings so I may meet him in person after all these years of listening to him on the radio and reading his marvelous website.
