Summary: Riveting yet disturbing I couldn't put it down
Comment: Bernie takes you on a trip with the Rouses. At the same time you learn some history of wreck diving and the people that (for better or worse) were involved. I was truly disturbed by the attitude of many of the wreck divers, especially one quick passage about a diver that let another die when he might have been able to save him. I also disagree with the philosophical statements, but I must admit, these were very few, two that I can think of. Overall it was an intriguing story, one that I couldn't put down. You feel as if you know some of the people when you are done and wish you could join them. If you are a diver READ THIS BOOK. Most accidents are diver error and reading of others might help you be better prepared. If you are not a diver but like adventure books you will enjoy this because you will feel like you are there.

Summary: Awesome Inspiration
Comment: Bernie Chowdhury has managed to totally captivate and intrigue me concerning the world of technical diving. The story focuses on a father and son who lost their lives in their pursuit of ever increasing levels of risk and penetration into the sport. However, the book is so much more that their story. Mr. Chowdhury weaves a spell-binding tale of pure adrenilin on the subjects of decompression sickness, mixed-gas deep air diving, diving accidents, the history of diving and an introduction to an elite group of explorers known as cave divers and tech divers. I experienced tremendous levels of excitement in reading The Last Dive. I am an advanced open water diver in pursuit of becomming a technical diver. Bernie Chowdhury, who instilled in his own students repeated drills to help ensure their safety, has helped me file away some index cards that may one day help me to solve an underwater problem underwater. Thanks Bernie.

Summary: Essential Reading
Comment: Essential reading for any budding deep or wreck diver. This book is not a technical diving manual, but rather an account of what not to do when you go diving. The book is well written and you will have difficulty in putting it down. Well worth the money and essential reading for any diver with intermediate experience.
