Summary: Keep it alive in '75
Comment: I was born and raised in the Bay Area and grew up watching the magnificent, mustachioed, mavericks who were the Oakland Athletics of the 1970's. This book brings back all those wonderful memories of my childhood. Reggie, Campy, Sal, Joe, Vida, Catfish and all the rest are there to remember. This book has a lot of insight into how Charles O. Finley created the team that may be the last dynasty in baseball history. It is mostly written about the owner, showing his tenacity to survive and build a great team but also portraying him as the egomanical despot that he was. The only thing I disliked was the fact that it didn't go far enough in documenting the dismantleing of the team as well, which started with the loss of Catfish Hunter in 1975. However, if you are a fan of baseball and an A's fan in particular you should read this book. It was a very enjoyable read.
