Summary: Has to be a mistake.
Comment: I love Jill Churchill and her Jane Jeffrey mysteries. All are well written, well plotted and just a joy to read...Until now.
I got about halfway through this book and just could not go on. Enough with the shopping trips by Shelly and Jane. Enough with the description of the new Jeep [who must be paying advertising fees for all the detail that is given to it]. Don't know what happened with this book. Honestly, it's terrible. If you have to read it, borrow it from the library.

Summary: Much is missing
Comment: One of the things I have enjoyed most in the earlier Jane Jeffry mysteries is the never ending supply of Mom-things that Jane attends to - the car pools, cleaning, cooking, shopping for necessities (as opposed to her purchase of a new wardrobe and a new vehicle in the same week in this book, for goodness sake). While taking care of her family and pets and inviting her honorary Uncle Jim to dinner, with frequent mention of her parents' role as diplomats, our heroine used to catch the culprit. That was all missing this time around, and did you note the incongruence of Katie cleaning Todd's room? Please - this is just not the Katie we've come to know as a typical teen. Who wrote this book?

Summary: Was there a ghost writer here?
Comment: Wow, was I disappointed with this one. I can't tell if Jill Churchill let someone else help write it, or if maybe she's got a new editor or something who missed a lot of the strange changes in style. Jane is suddenly a lot more blatant about her sexual relationship with Mel -- I just hated that! It really didn't seem like Jane. There is WAY too much shopping, and the detailed description of every feature Jane gets on her new Jeep looked like product placement to me! And the writing seemed so simple compared to what I'm used to seeing by Churchill. Her Grace & Favor mysteries, and the previous Jane Jeffry books are so good. I just don't know what happened here.
