Summary: Edgy & Fun but...
Comment: Older folks might not relate to what Noah is saying because it's definitely a generational book that captures a time & mood squarely in the Gen X camp as we're getting older and coming to grips with what's in store for us. My Mother would never understand why anyone would ever want to venture into a punk rock show mosh pit!

That said, it's a great book that offers a no-holds barred peek on not only the punk rock scene but growing up depressed in a culture that's viewing everything (and everyone) as disposable. Fighting that urge and looking beyond that is what Noah has accurately chronicled.

Summary: The message is compassion, and it rocks!
Comment: This book pulls no punches. It's a gritty, sometimes heartbreaking look into the downward spiral of a heart filled with disappointment and anger. While reading, I relived some of the darkest, loneliest and most painful memories of my youth. With his transformation and new delight in life, I was lifted up. Noah Levine has an easy charm in writing that makes the journey almost effortless. His story and purpose are inspiration for a disillusioned generation, and those to follow.

Summary: Gripping read with an important message
Comment: i loved this book. i couldn't put it down. as a person who meditates and is following the path of recovery, i could relate to the spiritual journey that noah levine describes in his book. noah's writing style holds your interest... it's like he's having a natural conversation with the reader, not trying to impress anyone or be anyone other than himself. if you're interested in the dharma, in understanding the rebellious side of alternative culture, or just curious about one man's amazing success story out of pain in darkness, i highly recommend this book. i'm grateful noah wrote it.
