Summary: It's good to have a strategy
Comment: Unless you are trained in sales, you do not go into a conversation thinking about your outcomes or your strategies. you think topic. You often don't get what you want. This book helps you by thinking of an opening, by what you know about them anticipating 2 or 3 responses from this person, and what you will say to each of these. furhter where you will go to bring you to your close and your desired outcome. not a script ot follow, but examples of how to strategize conversations for more positive outcomes.

Summary: Out-dated advice!
Comment: Read this book if you're on a power trip and want to learn how to be a mechanical, impersonal, dated manager who uses veiled threats to keep "subordinates" in line. The "do this or lose your job" threat doesn't work in today's economy where jobs are in abundance and the employee holds all the cards (especially if you're in the hi-tech industries). The author cues you on when to "smile" or "make eye contact to show empathy"...gimme a break. If you truly are empathetic, you don't need to be told HOW to relay it. I just don't know any employees who would tolerate the dictatorial environment the authors encourages. Not only does his advice often cross the line of personal/professional, but *who* truly storms around the office saying "Harold! My office! Right now!" As if. Maybe Fred Flintstone's manager, but no successful, respected managers that I know...
