Comment: This book features a good selection of plays from a variety of times and places. I use it in my Western theatre history courses with good results. Since I use it in these "entry-level" classes, I sometimes wish it had a few more of the classics, but overall it's a well-balanced book that serves the students well. The plays that appear in translation are well chosen and easy to read without losing meaning.
