Summary: hooray for bento!
Comment: This book is especially cool because it gives recipes that are in a Japanese cookbook I have only, you know, in English. Which means I don't have to take 3 hours to translate a recipe (my Japanese is pretty lousy) and can just dive in and make the stuff!
So points for being genuine, and points for great photography, and points for offering suggestions to substitute regional foods appropriately, make a five star book

Summary: I was looking for a bento box...
Comment: I was looking for a bento box, it couldn't be pinku (thats japanese for pink) or any girl color. It had to be of 2 or more kotoba (thats japanese for 2 compartments) and had be be chibi (small) sized. And had to be really kawaii (cute). Also It had to be about 10-20 bux. And the seller had to post pics of it first (i wanted to make shure it was kawaii [cute]). And it would have been nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have had any cartoon pictures, or been made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would have been nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I had found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i didnt want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii).
Thanks to this book, I finally found my chibi kawaii 2 kotoba bento box and my gohan is not wet. Thanks you book!

Summary: Tasty ideas and colourful pictures to boot!
Comment: This book reached far beyond my expectations. All the recipes are very simple and require only about 3 main ingredients. It is very versatile for cooks in all regions of the world (a part of the introduction actually says "If you cannot find the ingredients, use what you have as long as they're the same general colour and texture") - it really emphasizes what Japanese cooking is all about - style and presentation of incredibly tasty foods.
About the only drawback to the book is that it's so brief! After paging through it, I wanted more! Every recipe has a full colour photograph accompanying it, and some even have smaller photos of the steps to making the food. My boyfriend can't cook at all, and even he was able to make things from this book.
This is a must-buy for anyone looking to make their lunches a little more interesting or to inject a little Japanese flair into their cooking. :)
