Summary: An admirable but overall weak effort
Comment: Considering the lack of texts in this important area, it is difficult to compare this monograph to anything else. The authors do an admirable job of covering a wide range of topics in everything from colloids to rheology to solid forms. However, the flow of the text is poor, and there are numerous mistakes. The greatest problem with this book is the translation--it is clear that much was lost in going from the original German to English. In a few cases, the original German words were left in the text. With so few other books covering this topic, I would cautiously recommend this book. Hopefully the next version will improve on the translation, and cover some new territory (such as the application of Design of Experiment methods to formulation).
