Summary: Still laughing!!!
Comment: I was stationed in Augsburg, Germany with Vance and the other 5 of the infamous "Augsburg 6" in the late 80s up until the time they decided to leave our lovely Bavarian posting. I also went to training in Pensacola with the younger of the soldiers. Vance, while a friendly enough guy, was always a compulsive liar. He told me that he had been on the Olympic Baseball team and had written a smash hit for late-80s popster Aldo Nova. He and the 2 older soldiers misled the younger guys into believing his silliness. I still have no idea how he ever got a security clearance, or into the Army in the first place. He sold out his fellow soldiers as well as the trust that our country had placed in him. Buying his "books" is tantamount to supporting the Moonies. Save your money, unless you need something to line your bird cage with. If there was some kind of higher intelligence from "The Great Beyond", Vance and his crew would have been the LAST people that they would have spent more than 3 seconds dealing with. In retrospect, the incident did provide us poor souls who were "left behind" with an excuse to have End of The World parties each day on the anniversary of when they said The End was to have come in a letter they had left. Vance: Stop dishonoring those of us who deserved to wear the uniform - the fact that you are trying to make a buck off of an incident where you got some young kids mixed up in your warped goofiness is pathetic and somehow....very Vance.
