Summary: Complete waste of money
Comment: I'm a fourth year medical student who bought this book for his brother-in-law who is beginning college and hopes to go to medical school. This book is a complete waste of money. Literally half of the book is dedicated to a list of foreign (!) medical schools, which I'm sure is easily available from any premed advisor office. There are large sections of charts indicating percentage minorities, women, etc at various medical schools; again, this info is free from any advisor. There's a section on whether an MCAT prep course is necessary. This actually might be useful, except that it was written by an MCAT prep course company. There are several other advertisements scattered through the book and pawned off as informational articles. Finally, the very scant pieces of advice actually written by the author are either obvious, biased (there's a very positive review of a foreign medical school which sounds very suspiciously like it is run by the author) or outdated (what medical school doesn't teach embryology???).
I've purchased books on here before and am not really the type to review them. But PLEASE don't buy this book!
