Summary: A Must Have For TZ Fans
Comment: I got a copy of the Twilight Zone Companion back in the 80's, probably not long after publication. It has been very helpful as my goal is to see every TZ episode. As of today, I have seen 145. I have used mine so much it fell out of its binding years ago. Zicree took the time to put this book together in a very helpful format.I only wish that he would have put the episodes in order of their airing date. There were a few mistakes (left out words) in the first edition text with Rod Serlings opening and closing episode dialogs. Hopefully this has been corrected in the second printing. I have been in search for a new one and am so excited to find I can order one. If you are a die hard TZ fan, get your copy today.

Summary: Thank goodness for Marc Scott Zicree
Comment: Having read and been extremely disappointed with a couple of other "guides" on some of my favorite shows (e.g. Blackadder) I was REALLY thankful to see that someone had done right by my favorite television series of all time.

Zicree's Twilight Zone companion is one of the best organized guides to a show I've ever seen. It's put together perfectly to compliment the show and it's many facets. It covers everything about the show in a clear consice pattern.

Each episode section begins with

-A screenshot of the episode
-A full cast listing
-Serlings verbal introduction
-An overview of what happens in the episode
-Serlings verbal exit
-Discussion, quotes, and interviews regarding that particular episodes production.

There is also a large amount of biographical information on several of the shows' writers, directors, and cast such as Rod Serling and Richard Matheson.

At the begining and end of each season there is even more production information regarding how the show did for the season, ratings and pretty much anyhing you would want to know about the show and what surrouds it.

Additionally Zicree does an exceptional job of interviewing and quoting important people that were working on the show.

This is a wonderful book for fans of the series that explains and expounds alot on the genius that was Rod Serling.

A MUST BUY!

Summary: This Twilight Zone fan's favorite!
Comment: Zicree did a great job on this book. To date no one has done better, and perhaps no one ever will. This is the definitive "general info" book on the Twilight Zone!

As many people have mentioned, this just isn't a presentation of dry textual information (for that - try the "A Critical History of Television's the Twilight Zone, 1959-1964" ISBN: 0786404485), and the author is very opinionated. But why should this detract from the book?

Of course, when you offer opinions about the episodes (which many fondly remember from childhood - and don't enjoy reading about the flaws - especially picky and/or subjective gripes) you are taking a chance. But if you want to see "picky", then go to one of the Twilight Zone websites and check out a message board. Widely varying opinions abound and are encouraged (as they should be!). One persons very favorite #1 episode is anothers last place dog. And many of these people are all too willing to flame Zicree for offering praise and spending several pages for his favorites, and little coverage for the ones he didn't like???

I've actually purchased THREE of these books. My first one fell apart because I wore it out! The 2nd and 3rd were purchased as a replacement for #1, and to get a "revised edition" (that really wasn't updated, and didn't correct mistakes in the previous edition...oh well).

If you want to know about the Twilight Zone....look no further. This is the best "guidebook" for your imaginative adventure!
