Summary: This is my favorite book of all times.
Comment: Desiree came alive on every page and my heart broke for her again and again. I read this when I was a young married wife. I had the opportunity to go to Sweden and walk on the property of her castle and remember how cold it was for her. I always thought of the terrible decision she had to make as a mother and have often wondered what I would have done. Napoleon became a very real person off the pages of history because of this book. What a joy to read this again. I have possession of my own copy that I found at a used bookstore.

Summary: Wonderful!
Comment: This is the story of Napoleon's first love...Desiree. I think you have to be a teenager to read this- I was eleven. It was the 1953 version, so I don't know if this is the book everyone else seems to be talking about. If the second version is like the first, though, READ IT!!! I was lucky enough to find a copy for a dollar at a library sale, almost new then, but now I've read the cover off. If you like romance, you'll love this.

Summary: Desiree
Comment: I read Desiree for the first time when I was in sixth grade. My grandfather sent over some old books, and I leafed through them and found Desiree. It tells the story of a silk merchant's daughter who falls in love with future emperor of France Napoleone Buonaparte ( aka Napoleon Bonaparte )As you read, you find out that even though she went through many trials in her life, she triumphed over them all and became one of the most remembered women in history.
