Summary: Easy to follow and I saw results immediately
Comment: I've always been intimidated or annoyed with diet books -they are sort of like reading manuals, which I also hate. But this book is concise and really easy to follow, and the fact that the diet is so restrictive and unambiguous in the first two weeks makes it easy to stay on track. They key is that you are allowed to each as much as you want as long as you stay away from the sugars and the refined-foods carbs. But, you still end up eating a lot less than you used to because you aren't hungry. I can't say that at first I wasn't finding it hard to resist a huge pile of pancakes, but I was losing about a pound a day and that is an amazing motivator. Also I found that my energy level for my cardio workouts was down at first. I'm a victim of the high tech world and I've gained 25 pounds in the last six years. I'm going to South Beach in a few months, which was a great motivator to loose weight, and I'm achieving amazing results with this book. All my pants were loose on my after the first four days - it's like after all this time my body is saying "thank you!" for eating right and is rewarding me with rapid weight loss. This is a healthy diet that encourages the consumption of food in a satisfying quantity in its most natural state - not overly processed or refined or sugary. It's the type of food we are meant to be eating.

Summary: My daughter lost 40 pounds
Comment: I have to write a recommendation for this great book because it produces results. My daughter has been overweight for 15 years and no diet has had any impact. I read the reviews here six months ago and bought two recommended books, Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self to help her get rid of her self-sabotage and teach her how to be her best in every situation, and this book, which showed her how to eat sensibly and lose weight. All I can say is that the combination worked!

Summary: Tastes Great - and filling too - and it works!
Comment: Diet in the strict sense of the word - food you eat on a regular basis. This approach isn't just a way to lose weight, it is a way to eat better. I appreciated the scientific and unique approach to "why". It's not just cutting carbs - like so many would have you believe - that's Atkins. Here you eat the right carbs with the right foods to balance and blend. The idea of absorption and conversion to fat stunted by proper roughage and mono-saturated fats. The idea of sugar in all forms. OK, the bottom line, I did lose 10 pounds in two weeks - and I only went from 165 to 155. It was tougher for my wife who weighs considerably less then me and therefore % wise it is a lot to lose. Also, we didn't really step up exercise - if we had, it would have been easier. The coolest thing I haven't mentioned yet is that the food is great - what you would get at South Beach restaurants. And therefore you can stay on diet at almost any restaurant without asking them to change the menu. Finally, even now, in the later stages of the diet I can tell my body has changed the way it processes food. The weight is staying off.
