Summary: carl, you're two for two
Comment: of course, i read lookin for love for luv before this, so i had a pretty good idea about his writing. carl can create good characters and can write dialogue that will have you laughing out loud. however alot of this book was predictable; it's not a deep book, i could see the plot twists from a mile away, and yet i continued to read because the book was fun. i've read the same kind of story dozens of times before, and yet, carl made it fun. allen was the weakest character in the book; he had no backbone, he was a mama's boy, plus, he was -----whipped. i wanted to grab this man and tell him to get his head out of his duffel bag. you're gonna see a man eating your food, groping your woman, and then believe her when she tells you that's her cousin ? no one can be that clueless ! i had a problem with kyle having issues with with his marriage just because lisa was white. he didn't have it in the beginning, so why would've it have bothered him now ? i wouldn't even bother dating outside my race if i wasn't man enough to deal with the problems that come with it...i was very suprised after all that, that lisa and kyle got back together. i did like the fact that carl made one of his principal characters a bbw; he made diane beautiful and desirable; he also gave her enough attitude , that when upset would have made (person) scared . rose is foul with a capital " F." totally despicable; and deals more dirt than a gardener. it's not as a great book, but there was more that i liked than hated about it....

Summary: Givin it to ya straight.....no chaser
Comment: Congrats!!! to Mr. Weber on a wonderful and outstanding novel. What I read is that no marraige is perfect, every relationship has it's ups and downs. Face it-this is the real world. I felt sorry for Allen and Kenya the most. Here Allen was trying to please 2 women, Rose only wanted his cash, she did not love him. I am glad that her ring wasn't worth any money, and his mother wanted a child so bad before she passed. I knew even before I got to the end of the book that Rose and Ray were up to no good. To think she could be so cold hearted and callous to kill her own mother in law to recieve an insurance check, it was not justified. Jay was a downright D-O-G, Kenya got played the whole marraige and I thought that she deserved better. Diane was too nosey and she should have minded her own business, then on another note Wil told his wife to much about his friends pesonal business. In a way I was glad to see them get back together. Now as far as Kyle and Lisa, Lisa should have stuck by her husband. Kyle did over react to the situation and he did not consider the affect that he had over his daughters. Don't let me forget Tracy, common sense would have told any woman that if you are constantly renting rooms for a few hours of pleasure-than sista gal he is MARRIED!!!. I loved the book, I loved the drama, I loved the fact that Mr. Weber showed that both men and women have flaws, it was not all on the man, but the women in this story had some issues as well. All in all, this book was excellent.....

Summary: Saying "I Do" doesn't always mean you will!
Comment: This is the first book I have read by this author, but I don't think it will be the last! I couldn't keep my head out of this book! Hated to see it end, but I'm glad it did...maybe now I can take my butt to bed!! LOL
And they say women trip with each other as friends. Well, if this book is any indication, so do men. The brothers in this book went at with each other and the women in their lives, just we women do. I enjoyed reading that. It was nice to read a book about marriage from the man's perspective.
Some people have taken issue with the way the women were portrayed in this book. Honestly, I didn't because we all know men AND women like the characters in this book. The men: one steady, one playa, one mama's boy and one henpecked. The women: one a gold-digging skeezer, one bigmouth, and two who were kind of normal, but each with their own issues. When you have a group of eight people who mix and mingle all the time, there is going to be some drama. And this book had drama, drama, DRAMA!!! LOL This book would make a bomb-diggity movie too! But the thing I liked the best about this, no matter what, the men in this story were there for each other, even when they were mad as hell at each other. Same for the women. Some who I didn't even think liked each other that well seemed to band together when necessary.
I think Carl Weber showed a realistic view of marriage from a perspective you don't get to hear from a lot; the husbands. I found the characters wonderfully flawed and wonderfully human. Very well developed. I enjoyed this read very much and I look forward to reading not only his first book, but the next one as well. Obviously, owning a bookstore has taught him a thing or two about writing a book as well as selling one!
