Summary: This book helped me get my act together.
Comment: +AH4-Suze Orman does sound more like a motivational speaker than a financial advisor in this audio book. But, sometimes, at least for some of us, that's exactly what it takes. Motivation. She tells you how not to get into financial mess either created by you or in a relationship and how to take care of it if you're already in a mess, step by step. I paid off a student loan with a 8.5% interest rate instead of keeping that money in a savings account, earning 2% interest, which has been giving me a+AH4-+AH4- false sence of wealth. The chapter on retirement plans was especially helpful. I opened a Roth IRA account with a discount brokerage firm one week after listening to this tape. I'm in my mid-20s now, and I'm glad I got an early start. There were many subjects in the book that were not to my interest yet, (marriage, divorce, death of spouse, etc.) but I'm less afraid of what's ahead. I still think that "9 STEPS TO FINANCIAL FREEDOM" is better reading if you're trying to get text book+AH4-+AH4- information/instructions on personal finances.+AH4-

Summary: A very, very useful book
Comment: It's about time that we have a book/audiobook that understands the deep psychological issues of why so many of us have such a hard time managing our finances. So many financial planners and experts only tell us what we should be doing and that is fine, but nobody wants to go deeper into understanding why so few follow the advice. The first two tapes were the most helpful for me. For many who do have negative experiences about money going back to childhood, these are the only tapes out of the 8 tapes you will need. And it's also nice to have somebody explain to me what an annuity is (in full detail) and give me basic information on how to handle marriages, divorces, deaths, etc.,etc. And the fact that she openly admits to making various financial mistakes in her past is also helpful as well. Even, if at times, her tape seems wishy-washy and overly sentimental, the fact that she speaks from personal experience and the fact that she uses real-life experiences of her clients to illustrate her points takes the condenscending attitude out of her advice which seems to riddle the advice given by other financial advisors. And people wonder why she has caused should a stir? All I have to say is that I found her audiobook very useful and informative.

Summary: A very, very, very good book. Thanks Suze
Comment: I have read several other books by female financial authors. And found those 1,000 page fluff filled books about as useful for financial knowledge as a used piece of toilet paper.
Suze is the best. She is passionate about personal finance and goes beyond just offering financial advice. Not just marketing, although her books and other products certaintly outsell that NY female magazine writer by about 1000 to 1. Suze's books sell only because she has something to say.
The Courage To Be Rich is by far one of Suze's best works to date. She really get's down and deep into the mental aspects of money and why your attitude directly affects your financial situation.
Some of what Suze writes here is similiar to 9 Steps to Financial Freedom, Suze's best book in my opinion and I like The Courage To Be Rich better than The Road to Wealth which is also excellent and probably appeals more to those analytical types who enjoy that NY female writer with the 1,000 page book full of fluff. The Road to wealth, is not fluff...it is powerful information.
None the less, I still like The Courage To Be Rich even better. More hard hitting. More results oriented.
Great book Suze. We love ya!
